The full design service is a comprehensive journey from initial consultation through to a detailed masterplan. Every stage is carefully tailored to your needs, ensuring the final design reflects your vision, suits your site, and is ready to be built by landscapers.
Initial Consultation
Understanding your vision and goals.
Our first meeting is me listening to your initial ideas about what you want from your garden — how you want to use it, the styles you like, and any challenges or ideas you have. I can offer my reflections on these and add my own initial view on the garden project. This helps set the foundation for the whole design.
Site Survey & Client Questionnaire
Gathering the facts to inform the design.
This is a detailed site survey, measuring and recording important features, levels, elevations, tree dimensions, and local environmental conditions. Depending on the scale and complexity of the garden space we either commission professional surveyors to carry this out, or I will conduct this myself.
Alongside, you’ll complete a questionnaire to share your preferences, lifestyle needs, and practical requirements. Together, this gives a solid base for a tailored design.
Design Brief
Creating a clear, shared vision.
Using the consultation and survey insights, I prepare a design brief that provides the context for the projecting, outlining the objectives, constraints, and opportunities. This acts as our blueprint, ensuring we’re aligned before I start sketching ideas.
Outline Plan
Bringing ideas to life on paper.
I develop initial sketches offering suggestions for the layout, geometries, key features, and spatial relationships. This stage allows us to explore options, tweak concepts, and refine the design direction early on.
Depending on the scale of the project, subsequent iterations start to include 3d illustrations to help communicate the plan.
Masterplan
The complete design.
The final masterplan includes detailed drawings of the agreed layouts and concepts, along with suggested hard landscaping materials and broad planting suggestions

Ready to build.
